• If people were good, they joined a warrior group: Hwarang
• Joined military training program.
• Banned during Japanese occupation

• It originated in Korea

• WTF-World Taekwondo foundation
• International Taekwondo Federation (ITF)
• Must bow before and after sparring (showing respect).
• 2 participants in sparring.
• Techniques-aerobic workout, stretching, form, sparring, breaking, exams to progress in rank.
• A lot of discipline, self respect, etiquette, respect, self confidence involved.
